Al Shulhan entered the service in the Marine Corps in 1957. He served with Frank Cavanaugh and was designated as an Expert Rifleman. He chose an Air Force career and served as an enlisted avionics equipment repairman for a wide variety of aircraft. 'I tried to work flight line support in Summers and in-shop support during Winters. Can you blame me? Served in Massachusetts, Italy, Germany, -thank God only a few months at a time in Libya, and then, Virginia. Son Kevin and daughter Keren born to Al and Gail in 1960 and 1964, respectively. Mid-career, as SSgt Al Shulhan, I qualified for Air Force Commissioning Program and received an Air Force Scholarship to Florida State University for a degree in Meteorology and Mathematics. In 1968 I was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and began a career as an Air Force and Army Forces 'weather guesser'! I served in Georgia, Thailand, Germany, Massachusetts, Georgia again, and Florida. Prior to retirement, I served as the Air Force ROTC Commandant of Cadets at Georgia Tech University with the rank of Major. I retired in 1984.'
